What is digital printing?
IBM InfoColor 70
The concept of the digital press was first introduced at the 1993 IPEX exhibition in Birmingham (UK).

Although there is no official definition of the term, a digital press is a colour-capable device capable of efficiently and cost-effectively producing very short print runs at a quality typical of a standard litho press.

As these presses use similar imaging systems to the familiar xerographic process used in photo-copiers, it is possible to print a different image on each successive page.

Let us now go on to explain what this means to the printer's customer.
